On June 30, 2013, Rev. Carl Francis Dianda retired after 54 dedicated years to the priesthood.  His Retirement Celebration took place at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church following the 11:00 am Mass.  Father Dianda was Pastor at St. Francis for 25 years.

The Association of Ladies of Charity of the Archdiocese of Washington was honored to be able to participate in this celebration.  Who knew!  Thirty (30) years of commitment to the Ladies of Charity as our Spiritual Advisor.  Father Dianda is a blessing to us all.

The leadership and guidance he provided over the years  made us more compassionate as we serve the needs of the less fortunate within our community.   We treasure his example of looking for the best in each person we encounter, by not thinking of giving them a hand-out, but a hand-up.  He has taught us to be vessels for the Lord; and, to truly see the “Face of Jesus” in everyone we serve.

Although Father Dianda is entering retirement, the Ladies of Charity are elated he has agreed to continue as our Spiritual Advisor during the next chapter of his life.  We thank God for his commitment to us and those we serve in humility, simplicity and charity.

Below are photos taken during the Mass celebration and at the reception.  Many were present to shower him with best wishes for a happy retirement.
